Suntrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia – My first Braves game was a home game!

 

There’s no doubt that I have always been daddy’s girl. My mom and I never had a very good relationship, but my dad was pretty much my best friend all throughout my childhood, and that didn’t stop when I reached adulthood. When he passed away in January of 2014, I took it hard. It took a long time for me to regain a sense of normalcy after his passing, and I still miss him every day. Continue reading

A 1950s Style Diner in Central WV = A Little Slice of Heaven for Me

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting a longtime friend while he was in the area traveling for work. Granted, I still had to drive two hours to meet him, but when you live in the middle of nowhere, anywhere that’s some place of note is at least 45 minutes away. It was really nice catching up with my friend, and since we didn’t want to hang out in our hotel rooms the whole time, we decided to sample the local cuisine and browse the shops that were available to us. I Like Big Bookstores and I Cannot Lie

 

A couple of months ago I got to visit my best friend out in Seattle, Washington. It was a really great trip and we managed to fit a lot into my short stay (10 days is far too short for best friends to see one another), but my absolute favorite day was when we made the trek down to Portland, Oregon and visited the world’s greatest bookstore: Powell’s City of Books. We also ate at a really amazing cafe/French Bistro called Cheryl’s on 12th and visited the Oregon Science and Technology Museum, but the bookstore was truly the star of the show. Continue reading
